Erachi Choru / Meat Rice

Erachi choru/Meat Rice is an easy to prepare dish which looks and tastes like Biriyani. Beef/Mutton gravy is prepared first and the rice is cooked in that gravy. Ingredients
Beef / Mutton                   - 500 gm
Onion                                    - 2
Green chilly, slit                                - 1
Ginger garlic paste           - 2 tbsp
Tomato, sliced                   - 1 big
Red Chilly Powder           - 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder             -  ½ tsp
Garam Masala                   - ½ tsp
Meat Masala                      - 1 tsp
Water                                   - 1 cup
Oil                                           - 2 tbsp
For Rice
Biriyani Rice                        - 500 gm
Water                                   - ¾ ltr
Oil                                           - 2 tbsp
Pure Ghee                          - 2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Cardamom                          - 2 nos
Cloves                                   - 2
Cinnamon                           - 1 inch stick
Curry leaves                       - a few
Method:-
In a Pressure cooker, heat 2 tbsp oil and saute Onion, green chilli, ginger garlic paste, tomato etc.
When they are blended well, add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and meat masala.
Add salt to taste.


Add beef/ mutton and mix well.
Add 1 cup of water.


Cook for 5 minutes in full flame and another 20 minutes in low flame.

Now the gravy part is completed.
To Prepare Erachi choru
Wash and drain the biriyani rice.
In a big Non stick pan, heat 2 tbsp oil and splutter curry leaves, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon stick.

Add the prepared beef/mutton into it.

When it starts to boil, add biriyani rice into it. Add salt to taste.

Boil ¾ litre water and add it to the pan.
Mix well and close the pan with a lid.
After some time, when the rice starts to boil like bubbles, add 2 tbsp pure ghee and lower the flame.
All the flavours of beef/mutton will be added to the rice as it is cooked in the gravy.
Switch off the flame when the rice is cooked well.


Garnish with mint leaves and serve hot.
