Channa Dal / Chickpeas / Garbanzo Beans are high in fibre and protein. Including 3/4 cup (175 mL) of chickpeas
in your diet each day can help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels, which reduces
the risk of heart diseases. They can be used in salads, soups and curries also. Here
i am sharing with you a channa dal semi gravy masala recipe which is one of the best combination
with chappathi, Bhatura, Wheat dosa etc....
Ingredients:-
Chickpeas Channa Dal - 100gm
Onion, chopped - 2
Green Chillies, slit -
1
Ginger garlic paste -
1 tbsp
Tomato, chopped -
1
Red Chilli powder -
1 tsp
Turmeric powder -
½ tsp
Coriander Powder -
½ tsp
Garam Masala - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - a
few
Coriander leaves, chopped - 1 tbsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Method:-
Soak Channa dal in plain water overnight or
for at least 8 hours.
In a Pressure cooker, cook Channa dal
with 1 cup of water and salt to taste. Keep the flame low after the first whistle
and cook for 15 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan and sauté curry
leaves, chopped onion, slit green chilli and ginger garlic paste.
Once it is done, add chopped tomato
and sauté until it is mashed well.
Then add Red chilli powder, turmeric
powder, coriander powder and garam masala.
Once the raw smell of the powders is
gone, add cooked channa dal/chick peas along with the leftover water into it
and mix well.
Cook until all the water is gone and
make it semi dry.
Garnish with chopped Coriander
leaves.
Serve hot with Bhatura, Wheat Dosa,Chappathi
etc...
