Squid Roast / Koonthal Masala




 
For all the seafood lovers, a Kerala style seafood delicacy !!!













INGREDIENTS

1)      Squid cleaned and cut into rings - 1/2 kg

2)      Chilli powder - 2 tsp

3)      Turmeric powder       - 1/4 tsp

4)      Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp

5)      Onion finely  chopped - 2

6)      green chilli cut into rings   -  2

7)      ginger-garlic paste - 2 tsp

8)      curry leaves - a few

9)      Tomato – 1

10)   garam masala - 1/2 tsp

11)   tomato sauce - 1 tsp (optional, but it will give a better taste)

12)   Oil - 2 tbsp

13)   Salt to taste

Method:-

1)      Cook squid pieces with chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder and a little water .

2)      After cooking, separate the squid and the stock (water left after cooking).

3)      Heat oil in a pan and add the curry leaves.

4)      Add the cooked squid for 2 min and sauté well. Don’t fry deeply. Keep it aside.

5)      Add the onion and stir it well. Add salt to taste.

6)      Add  green chillies ,ginger- garlic paste and saute.

7)      Add tomato cut into small pieces and sauté till it gets blended well.

8)      Add  garam masala and the stock. Stir well and keep it in the low flame.

9)      Add tomato sauce and mix well.

Now the special Squid masala is ready to serve and you can have it with chapathi or rice.
